CONSULTATION
The client and I discuss the portrait commission and the details involved. Referrals can be given by request. This may be done by telephone, or in person. Clients are also given the choice to schedule a photographic sitting if he or she wishes. The sitting would take place at the client's home and at a time convenient for them.
PHOTOGRAPHS
Photographs with the best features of both expression and pose are suggested. The client should look for the features which best reflect the subject's personality. Sometimes a sketch is done if a clearer idea is needed as to how the portrait will look. If additional photographs are needed, another sitting is scheduled.Photographs can be mailed to me, with a deposit of 50% after a discussion of the scope of the work, costs, and "turnaround-time". All work is satisfaction guaranteed and refunds will be made with the return of the work, less a time-fee.
MEDIUM
Pastel is a dry medium in chalk form. The under layers are set onto the paper with a fixative spray. The final layer is not sprayed so to retain the softness and lighter tones. Pastel requires framing with glass and is as durable as oil with the proper care. Strong light will cause fading in both.Oil is done on a stretched canvas or masonite board and is protected by a layer of varnish instead of glass. Oil paintings offer more detail and will have richer tones.
Graphite is done on premium, acid free paper and offers a classic look.
TURNAROUND TIME
A portrait usually takes 4-6 weeks to complete depending on the workload; however, some portraits can be done sooner. When placing your order, please let me know when you would like your portrait and I will do my best to fulfill your request. Some backlog may occur around Christmas, so please order early.FRAMING
Because of the wide range of individual tastes, framing is usually done by the client. However, I am more than happy to give prices for framing your finished artwork. I am also happy to offer suggestions and referrals.

Oil - $800.00Quick sketch pastels are done from your photos and are $45.00 per subject. They are 11x14 in size.
I will be glad to quote all other custom orders, depending on number of subjects, subject matter and size. All artwork is done from clear, color photos.
